Roy Williams leaves me speachless.....

Well before the Lion's game against the Chicago Bears, Lions' 1st round wide receiver Roy Williams decided to pump up his team, or get some extra attention(I can't figure out which) by boldly stating that the winless Detroit Lions, the same Lions that lost an offensive shootout to the Seattle Seahawks the previous week 9-6, which he stated "it's stupid that we didn't score 40 on them" would beat the Chicago Bears. Ok, i'm all for trying to get my team pumped but when it comes to guaranteeing wins when you have nothing to back it up, I don't get it, I mean it's not like the Lions are powerhouses in the NFC North...shit they are probaly worse than the Packers. Anyways after it was all said and done the Bears edged the Lions out with a narrow win....34-7!!!!

Roy Williams is obviously not concerned with getting wins, he is more concerned with getting camera time and attention. Which he got after making his first catch. After making his first of 6 receptions on Sunday, Williams Celebrated even though his "team" was losing. This upset the Bears crowd and aparently had Detroit Free Press Columist Mitch Albom confused.

Wen Albom asked Williams why he celebrated a reception with his team already trailing by two scores, Williams responded, "I celebrate first downs all the time. I'm not gonna stop that. I'm an exciting player. If I do something exciting(oh yeah, there is nothing more exciting then getting a meaningless first down), I'm gonna show my actions."

Albom responded, "But you were losing, 10-0."

"What does that mean?....That means nothing to me. The score means nothing," Williams stated.

Even after the 34-7 loss Williams said he still didn't regret making the guarantee.

"No, because everyone believes what I said," he told Albom.

Then after that he made another guarantee.

"You can all run this, We will the next game," he told reporters. "I don't care who it's against.(it's Green Bay by the way) We will win the game as long as we do what we're supposed to do. That's my comment for the whole week."

Ok, let me first start off by saying....WHAT THE HELL?? I was a big fan of Roy Williams, but this is a team sport. You can't win by yourself and making coments like the score isn't important doesn't really put me in the mindset of a winner. The last time I checked it takes points in order to win, with that said...Roy, the score is important!
